The site uses Google Analytics to count page views and see broad usage patterns — which pages get visited, roughly where traffic comes from, what kind of device is used. Nothing is asked of you and nothing personally identifying is collected beyond what Google Analytics does by default for any website.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell one visit apart from another. You can block or delete them in your browser settings; the calculators work fine without them.

The activity details you choose — setting, ventilation, duration, crowding, movement, voice level, mask — never leave your browser. The exposure score is computed on your device, in real time, and is not sent anywhere or stored.

The location field is the one exception, and only in a narrow way. When you press Apply, the ZIP code or city you entered (or the airport you picked on the flight page) is sent to this site's server so it can look up the matching public wastewater readings. That request is used to answer the question and is not saved to any user record or profile, and it is not linked to your activity choices. If you share a scored link, the location is in the URL you chose to share — nowhere else.

There is no sign-up, no login, no password, and no email collection. There is no contact form storing what you write. Nothing about you is retained between visits.

Local disease activity comes from the CDC's National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS) — publicly available, aggregate wastewater viral activity levels for SARS-CoV-2, Influenza A, and RSV, reported at the level of treatment sites and the counties they serve.

This is an important distinction: that is public health surveillance data about communities, published by the CDC. It is not data about you. Air Aware reads existing public data — it does not collect, generate, or transmit any personal health information about its users.
