Terms of Service

Last updated: August 6, 2026. By using Air Aware you agree to what follows. It is short on purpose.

This is not medical advice

Air Aware provides general, relative risk estimates for informational and educational purposes only. It is not medical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional who knows your situation.

Do not use a score here as the sole basis for a medical decision. If you have a health concern — including anything about exposure, symptoms, treatment, or your own risk factors — talk to a clinician. Nothing on this site accounts for your age, vaccination status, immune status, or medical history.

No warranty on accuracy

Local activity levels come from third-party public health sources, principally the CDC's National Wastewater Surveillance System. That data can lag by days or weeks, can have gaps where no site reports, and can be revised or wrong. Where no nearby site reports, the site says so and uses a wider or borrowed reading, which is a rougher approximation.

The scoring model is deliberately simplified and is published in full on the methodology page. A score is a relative index, not a probability of infection and not a guarantee of any outcome. The site is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

Free to use

Air Aware is free and requires no account. There is nothing to buy and no subscription. Availability is best-effort: the site may change, break, or go away without notice.

Acceptable use

Use the site as a person using a website. Please don't scrape it, hammer it with automated requests, attempt to break or overload it, probe it for vulnerabilities, or use it in a way that interferes with anyone else's use. Don't present its output as authoritative medical or clinical guidance.

The underlying CDC surveillance data is public; if you want it in bulk, get it from the CDC directly rather than from this site.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site and its author are not liable for any loss, harm, injury, illness, or damages arising from your use of Air Aware or from any decision you make based on its output. You use it at your own discretion and risk.

Jurisdiction and contact

Air Aware is a personal project operated from the United States, and these terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law rules. Prevalence data currently covers US locations only.
